“ Authentic Singaporean meal. Appears to be a staple of Singaporeans. It was quick and easy to order, eat, and let others enjoy. Easy to get to from the train station, although parking may be an issue if you. have a vehicle. The taste was great, egg consistency excellent and runny and coffee was good. Reasonably priced. Bring cash. Enjoy the wonderful customs that Tonh Ah Eating House continues to serve. Must do in Singapore. ”
“ Tong Ah eating house seems to be a Chinatown staple for kaya toast and the shop was filled to the brim with tourists and locals alike at 10AM on a Saturday. The line to order was out the door and the menu is extremely simple: toasted or steamed kaya toast with your choice of tea or coffee. Ordering can feel a little hectic, but they hand you your drinks almost immediately on a tray. Seating is also fairly chaotic with a couple tables on the street, but most of the tables being indoors. Most of the tables are banquet style, large, round tables and different groups of patrons typically end up sharing those. Once you are seated, the servers quickly get your toast and eggs to you. Overall, this won't be the most aesthetic kaya toast you'll get in the city, but it's fairly fast, tasty, and quite cheap. In a Chinatown that feels mostly gentrified, it's cute that this shop has managed to thrive through the years. ”
“ Came here for the famed Kaya toast and eggs. They offer a range of Kaya toast, French toast, thin Kaya toast and steamed toast. Any of the above with eggs and a kopi costs a reasonable five bucks. Ordered the recommend thin Kaya toast with eggs and kopi peng. What was special about the toast here was the Kaya-unlike your usual green Kaya, this Kaya is grainy, not too sweet and a little on the grey side. The butter seemed unsalted and was gentle on the palate. Ultimately a refreshing place with great ambience (and air con), it's definitely worth a try. However I still prefer stronger flavours from the usual ya kun and wouldn't go out of my way to frequent this place ”
“ My friends and I enjoyed this place. Old school charm delivering solid kaya toast and eggs. Nasi lemak was good as well. If you're entertaining out-of-town guests who are fans of "Crazy Rich Asians", the "bok bok" scene (Rachel has a heart-to-heart with her old college roommate Peik Lin) was filmed nearby at 20 Bukit Pasoh Rd. Get brunch, then wander there while the restaurant is closed during the day so you can take photos and reenact the scenes to your heart's content. ”
“ Old school style kaya toast! There are a lot of franchises that serve kaya toast, but I picked this spot because I wanted an old school authentic spot. This place has been opened forever and is located in Chinatown. We ordered the French toast combo, which comes with french toast, two eggs and a coffee or tea of your choice. The French toast comes with their homemade kaya spread. It was divine! Yes, it's hot and you're sweating but come and experience an authentic Singaporean breakfast! ”
